About the Throwster's designer
Peter Vielvoye trained as a woodwork and metalwork teacher in the 1960s and progressed to become Head of Design and Technology at Chosen Hill School in Churchdown, Gloucestershire. He became a REMAP engineer after retiring from teaching in 2008 and has since designed and made many aids for people with disabilities.
Peter started to develop the Throwster in response to a request to REMAP in 2012 from Cheltenham and County Harriers , who were looking for seated throwing frames for two of their athletes. The initial designs were bespoke for individual athletes, but as the design developed through six prototypes it has become fully adjustable and the basic frame can now be set for any individual athlete, making it a commercially viable product. |
