"Seated thowers have been offered a game-changing new invention" Athletics Weekly
This REMAP award-winning seated throwing frame has been developed and trialled by Gloucestershire REMAP engineer, Peter Vielvoye, in conjunction with Cheltenham and County Harriers Athletics Club. The design has evolved through six prototypes into a fully adjustable, seated throwing frame that is ideal for general use by clubs, and by established athletes in competition.
The thrower can sit square or across the corner and can make adjustments to suit legs and arms. The strong frame construction provides a very stable throwing platform that builds confidence in the thrower.
Weighing in at just 16kg, the Throwster can be set for either right- or left-handed athletes, and conforms to International Paralympic Committee (IPC ) rules.
The Throwster is available for order direct from the designer, REMAP engineer Peter Vielvoye, for the introductory price of just £585, plus a £60 carriage charge (delivery within the UK only).
Join In, the national volunteering in sports charity, has recently published a blog post about the Throwster: www.joininuk.org/designing-for-disabled-athletes.
